Bigger Stage, Bigger Impact: Experience the New Two-Part Showcase

We’re doing things differently this year! To give our founders and breakthrough discoveries the spotlight they deserve, our annual pitch and research showcase is now split into two focused events:

  1. Wednesday, September 23—Brown Invents Startup Challenge - Early-stage teams pitch live for funding.
  2. Thursday, October 15—Innovation@Brown Showcase - Network with top VCs, view commercialized tech, and see the 2026 award winners, including live voting for Innovation of the Year.

Brown Invents Startup Challenge

BTI will also be hosting the Brown Invents Startup Challenge, a pre-Showcase pitch competition, during Rhode Island Startup Week. This event will be for early, formed companies who are interested in pitching to a panel of VCs for a cash prize.  Read about last year's Pitch Event.

4th Annual Innovation@Brown Showcase

Past years of the Innovation@Brown Showcase have attracted 300+ attendees, including entrepreneurs, investors and corporate representatives from the New York to Boston corridor.

A key feature of the event is a Technology Showcase and Networking Session comprising 20-25 high-top tables highlighting key translational research projects, pre-companies, and newly formed companies from Brown and the local ecosystem.

The 2026 event will also include flash talks, mini-pitches and/or 1:1 investor conversations.

Vote for the Innovation of the Year Award

At the Innovation@Brown Showcase, Brown Technology Innovations (BTI) will honor outstanding achievements with awards for Inventor of the Year, Startup of the Year, and Innovation of the Year (determined by public vote).

Voting for Innovation of the Year opens August 17 and closes September 24 at 11:59 PM. The top 3 out of 10 finalists will pitch live during the Showcase on October 15, where the audience will vote live to select the final winner.
